International Women’s Day 2021

Boardman, Hawkins & Osborne LLP

International women’s day this year must for many working women take on a greater significance? Most of us have spent the last 12 months going through so many different phases and back again! Homeschooling, Lockdown, ‘rule of six’, working from home, going back to the office briefly, and then working from home all over again.

International Women’s Day 2021 1

We’ve grappled with technology. Those of us working in the legal world have grappled with remote hearings, and in family law, we’ve had to think about contact arrangements for our clients, the pros and cons of remote expert assessments, co-parenting, financial ramifications and so on.

This time last year I attended a lovely lunch with some other local businesses women, and made some great new acquaintances. I do remember all of us thinking something major was about to change, and with hindsight, who amongst us would have expected the last 12 months to pan out the way it did?

At BH&O, we happen to be, currently, an all female firm. Amongst our team of 13, 9 of us are parents, who have all experienced different levels of homeschooling this year, along with the pressures and challenges this has brought. We completely understand the pressures that many of our clients have been experiencing.

We are also fortunate that when we formed the firm two and a half years ago we set out to be as paperless as we could. Little did we realise just how essential that would be over the last 12 months! But it has meant that our entire team could work flexibly, and from just about anywhere, be that the office, home, or somewhere else! (And we have…!)

We have continued to be as busy as ever in 2020 and 2021, and have continued to grow. We remain committed to providing an all round, compassionate and good quality service to our clients.

And we celebrate being in business, and celebrate Women’s achievements on International Women’s Day 2021 and beyond!
