Carrie Rudge

Carrie is an experienced family lawyer, specialising in helping clients through divorce and separation.

Carrie studied law at Cardiff University and completed her professional qualifications in Oxford. She qualified as a lawyer in 2005 and has spent most of her career working in leading Thames Valley law firms.

She specialises in helping her clients navigate divorce and separation, helping them to divide their finances and make arrangements for their children. Carrie has particular expertise in helping clients with the division of finances during divorce, particularly where a business is involved, where one or both people have received inheritance, and where one or both people are high earners.

Where possible Carrie seeks to find resolutions for her clients without the need for Court intervention, but Carrie will always act in the best interests of her clients which means sometimes Court intervention is required.

Carrie also regularly advises on and prepares prenuptial and postnuptial agreements for her clients. Common reasons for wanting a prenuptial agreement is where there is an existing business, where there are inherited assets or gifts as the result of parents’ tax planning, or where one person has children from a previous marriage.

As well as advising people individually, Carrie works with couples jointly, either through mediation or the ‘one couple one lawyer’ service. Carrie trained as a family mediator in 2016 and is accredited by the Family Mediation Council. Carrie has been helping couples through the ‘one couple one lawyer’ service since 2024, shortly after its introduction. These services are not suitable for all circumstances, but where they are, usually provide a more amicable and cost effective way for separating couples to reach a resolution, and allow couples to retain more control over decisions.
